Manitou Springs Colorado
Nestled at the foot of Pikes Peak five miles west of I-25 on Highway 24, the Manitou Springs, Colorado area combines recreation and a beautiful backyard to make this community a bigger tourist attraction than any other region in the state. Here you will find one of a kind shops and unique dining, art galleries and antique stores all rich with Victorian history. Residents here treat their visitors to a view of the mountains with a trip to the top on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, or outdoor enthusiasts can hike the 12-mile Barr Trail to Pikes Peak. The Cave of the Winds and its laser show are also spectacular to see. Other attractions include the Manitou Cliff Dwellings, Miramont Castle and Museum and Iron Springs Chateau Melodrama Dinner Theater.
Throughout the year you can enjoy seasonal events as well like the Great Fruitcake Toss in January, concerts at the park during the summer, and the Yuletide Enchantment Holiday Parade in December. The annual Bronc Day in Green Mountain Falls is another family-oriented event filled with arts and crafts, games and a parade.
Kids will love the North Pole/Santa’s Workshop. This amusement park nestled in the side of the mountains is open year-round but is especially popular at Christmas. In the summer, the kids will enjoy taking a dip in the Manitou Springs Public Pool. Arcade is a fun time for young or old and all ages will savor the scrumptious taffy at Patsy’s Candy Kitchen.
